Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Program

Cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children under 15 years of age according to the National Cancer Institute, and children receiving treatment for cancer spend many days, months and even years in the hospital. As part of the Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Program, Northwestern Mutual-Crown Point donated a Starlight Fun Center® mobile entertainment unit and Starlight Tablet to improve the life and health of pediatric patients at Franciscan St. Anthony Health- Crown Point.

Alex's Lemonade Stand

Here at the Northwestern Mutual Crown Point Office, supporting the Northwestern Mutual Childhood Cancer Program is near and dear to our hearts. Since opening the office in 2014, Northwestern Mutual Crown Point has raised over $15,000 for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to support research into new treatments and cures and to raise awareness for childhood cancer causes.

How A Four Year Old Inspired A Movement

As she was fighting cancer at age 4, Alex Scott had a vision that she could raise money to fight the disease by holding lemonade stands. Her parents were skeptical, but they supported her. Alex’s idea sparked a movement that has now raised tens of millions of dollars. Her mother, Liz, talks about her daughter’s inspiration.
